To start, my grandmother and I grew very close over our summers together. Every day, she and I
would go to our little garden and tend to it. We grew mint, blackberries, and other various types of
vegetables. Then, we would use the produce from our hard work in teas and deserts! I got my green
thumb during those great moments with my Grammy. Sharing my summer with my grandmother was
my happiest childhood memory because she gave me the guidance I needed and we got to do some
very memorable experiences together.

The most valued possession of mine that is non-reflective of monetary value, but rather of
sentimental value is my mother’s wedding dress. It reminds me of the love that my parents once had,
and it also is something that I hope to use at my own wedding. To begin with, my mother and father
have been divorced for more than 20 years, and it is often times sad to think about how much they
despise each other. However, when I look at the wedding dress my mother wore that day in February
1980, I am reminded about how they were once in love. They got married too young and had three
children at very early ages, so it tore their love apart from each other. Furthermore, I hope that I can
alter the dress to be used at my own wedding in the future. Some might think this is a bad omen to use
a dress from a failed marriage, but I respond back that if it weren’t for that failed marriage, I
wouldn’t be alive. So, even though the wedding dress from my father and mother’s wedding has bad
vibes surrounding it, it is my most valued sentimental item I possess.
