infection, or an oropharyngeal swab in patients with oropharyngeal
infection.
• Injection anthrax: blood is recommended by the CDC.
• Anthrax meningitis: blood and CSF should be tested in patients with
signs of meningitis (e.g., severe headache, meningeal signs, altered
mental status, seizures).
