THE ANALYSIS OF MAIN CHARACTERS IN “ROMEO AND JULIET”

Abstract. 
The article illustrates the analysis of main characters in “Romeo and 
Juliet” by William Shakespeare.

Introduction. 
Romeo and Juliet, the titular star-crossed lovers of William 
Shakespear’s famous romantic tragedy, have complex motivation and character 
traits.The characters of “Romeo and Juliet” have been depicted in literature, music, 
dance and theatre. In “Romeo and Juliet” tragedy Romeo is an important character

with a very strong personality. Romeo is a young teenage boy with characteristics 
that may be unique from those of others, such as idealistic, dramatic and idiotic 
among others. 
The other characters in this play also have their own characteristics, which may 
oftentimes bring out the traits of Romeo. Thus, his predominant character traits of 
kindness, idealism, dramatism and foolishness are seen best when contrasted with 
the traits of other characters.
