Materials: Navigate (student’s book, workbook, audios for workbook) by E. Alden and M.Sayer, (Level B2+) is the main course book, additional materials will be provided in Moodle platform or in the classroom.
Classroom rules and instructions: 1. No food is allowed to the classroom, except water. 2. Printed version of main sources. 3. Notebook for new words.
Attendance and punctuality:Attendance is mandatory: all students are expected to be in class on time. There is no mark for attendance, however, you will lose 10 points of overall GPA for three unexcused absences, three late comings will be considered as one absence. If you are missing the classes because of illness or other excuses, you need to provide related documentation of proof. The absence hours must be worked out before taking midterms, when the student miss more than 4 hours within 45 days (midterm is taken in the 7th week of each semester)
Academic integrity and plagiarism:All students are required to follow academic integrity rules, copying from other sources without giving a credit, copying from a classmate's
work, or showing someone's work as own, or helping someone to do so are considered to be against academic integrity rules and subject to be penalized. Should plagiarism detected, depending on degree may cause not acceptance of work, losing points, exclusion of midterm or final exams.

Description of submitting assignments for academic hours:
Workbook: Each unit contains its appropriate sections of workbook. Student is required to submit his/her completed workbook units before the Midterms. A workbook unit is assessed according to sufficient completion of each task, maximum 1 pts. The form of workbook Submission is written through handing in to course instructor on time
Wordlist: New words must be recited by their definitions before starting each unit. For obtaining 1 pts for unit wordlist, student is obliged to write new words with meaning and can retell to teacher.
Extra task: Based on unit topic or exercises, teacher asks to complete assignments orally or written, to prepare answers, to be ready to self-study of any page of unit, to write feedback to peer’s speech, to learn some new materials and others. Points will be given in terms of important dimension of the task.
Independent study: Student is assigned to carry out 5 different criteria based tasks in this semester
Midterm: Both midterms include unit based tasks, such as listening, reading, grammar and vocabulary competence and writing. Midterm 1 is designed on unit 7,8,9 and midterm 2 contains tasks based on unit 10,11,12. Student is not permitted to take midterm control work unless he/she obtains the lowest points: 34 out of 50.

Synthesis Essay (type of essay that gathers information from a variety of sources to form a new idea, question, or argumentative thesis. Writers composing a synthesis essay will discuss ideas, data, and evidence from a series of sources to either explain or argue something original

Task:
Individually, you have to complete a written report of 400-500 words (+/- 10%) on three of the presented topics in two stages. Adequate guidance will be provided by the teaching team throughout the following weeks, but students are strongly encouraged to carry out their independent research using reliable and academic resources.
It is implicit that you will professionally develop your arguments on facts and data. You must utilize official sources in your research such as official reports and/or the government websites. Make sure you properly paraphrase information. Please, avoid unreliable sources in your report such as Wikipedia/Blogs/Forms and do not copy-paste information from the official websites.
