First, train your students to form pairs or groups quickly.
•
Make sure students do not work with same student every time.

How to use the Think-Pair- Share activity BASIC VERSION OF TPS 1.
Inform students to form pairs or small groups.
2.
To entire class, present question or topic to think about.
3.
Thinking Time: Give students 1-2 minutes to think about
question or topic and make notes for sharing with partner or
group members.
4.
Students should create graphic organizer to make notes.
5.
Stop Thinking Time and tell class the first person in pair or group
has one minute to share their ideas. “The minute begins now.”
6.
At end of one minute inform class that the other person or other
member of group have one minute to ask presenter questions.
“The minute begins now.”
7.
Repeat #4 and #5 with partner or other group members.
