which is 78% more than the previous year. In imports, in 2022, Armenia
bought goods worth 8.7 billion US Dollars, which is 64% more than in 2021
(Arka, 2023).
Azerbaijan’s foreign trade amounted to 52.6 billion US Dollars in 2022,
which is 55% more than in the same period of the previous year. Last year,
the country exported goods worth 38.1 billion US Dollars, which is 72%
more than in 2021. In imports, in 2022, Azerbaijan bought goods worth
14.5
billion US Dollars, an increase compared to the previous year of 24%.
Unlike Georgia and Armenia, the trade balance with Azerbaijan is positive
(State
Customs Committee, 2023).
Graph 1.5 shows Georgia’s trade turnover with Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Despite the decrease in 2015-2016 with Azerbaijan, currently, the trade
between the two nations exceeds 1 billion 300 million US Dollars, while
with Armenia, the trade turnover is characterized by positive dynamics – in
2022, for the first time, it exceeded the 1 billion
Dollar mark, which allows
for promising forecasts.

According to the annual document published by the Ministry of Economy
and Sustainable Development of Georgia, last year the highest number of
products exported from Georgia to Armenia were non-alcoholic beverages
(171% growth), rebar (271% growth), cars (23-times growth), medicines
(6% growth), nuts (9% growth), potatoes (197% growth), fish meal (31%

growth), nitrogen fertilizers (107% growth). In imports, in 2022, Georgia
mainly bought from Armenia copper ores and concentrates (17% growth),
wheat (2%, no imports in the same period of the previous year), tobacco
(growth 38%), food products (23% growth), and electricity (25%, no
imports in the previous year).
Last year, the main export products from Georgia to Azerbaijan were non-
alcoholic beverages (19% growth), cattle (36% growth), live sheep (123%
growth), potatoes (28% growth), cars (24% growth), medicines (26%
growth), fish meal (28%, no export was made in the previous year), and
ferroalloys (29% growth). In imports, in 2022, Georgia mainly purchased
from Azerbaijan petroleum gas (39% growth), natural gas (39% growth)
and rebar (61% growth).
