Terminography is the theory and practice of compiling special, or terminological, dictionaries. The subject of terminography is the development of methodology and specific techniques for compiling special dictionaries. Its main task is to develop principles and methods of fixing terminological systems in terminological dictionaries. Terminography methods are due to its interaction with lexicography. Of all the problems facing terminography, the most important are two: the problem of classification and typology of special dictionaries the problem of the structure of the vocabulary and the principles of organization of individual structural elements (parameters) of terminological dictionaries of different types. Glossary - a dictionary of highly specialized terms in any branch of knowledge with interpretation, sometimes translation into another language, comments and examples. Principles for compiling glossaries: you cannot blindly rely on dictionaries, because, in modern conditions, "paper" special dictionaries do not keep up with technical progress, and their electronic counterparts are not subject to rigorous checking and editing. This means that this work must be done by the translator, who must check the correspondences suggested by the dictionaries, comparing parallel texts and consulting with specialists. it is necessary to take into account the scope of the term. It is important to know the combinability potential of the term in the source and target languages. Include verb phrases as well, since the translation of a verb in a general literary language often depends on the terms with which it is combined in this terminology. For example, in metalworking terminology, to work parts means to machine parts. An important role in the translation of terms is played by the author's target setting and genre and stylistic features of the text. And, finally, when translating highly specialized texts, one cannot ignore such a property of a term as conventionality.
