THE DAGGER OF AZIZ ALIYEV IN THE COLLECTION OF NATIONAL
MUSEUM OF THE HISTORY OF AZERBAIJAN
SUMMARY
In the collection o f National Museum o f the History o f Azerbaijan there are the sam
ples belonging to the prominent statesmen, political and cultural fiqures o f Azerbaijan
occupy the special place. Among these samples there is the dagger belonging to Aziz
Mamedkerim oqlu Aliyev. Aziz Aliyev has a special place in the history of Azerbaijan
and Dagestan as the famous scientist, the organizer o f the medical service o f a population
and also as political figure. In the article the activity o f A.Aliyev as a doctor and scien
tist and the measures fulfilled by him in 1941 in the Southern Azerbaijan have been con
sidered. This activity on the head o f Dagestan in 1942-1948 when the forcible deportation
o f Dagestanian folks planned by the highest leadership o f the USSR has been prevented
namely by his efforts has been considered in detail. The grateful population o f the
Dagestan made a present to his leader the dagger, the traditional symbol of the courage
and honour. It is not ocassionally that the name o f Aziz Aliyev is the symbol o f the
friendship of Azerbaijanian and Dagestanian folks till a present.
In the article the technical pecularities o f daggers manufacturing proving that this dag
ger is the prominent art production of the beginning o f

century and also have been
considered.
