Definite limits for the activities of people are set by the formal organisation. Defined responsibilities
and authority provide relatively fixed fences within which people can develop their own work areas to
the maximum without encroaching on the work of others.
Features of Formal Organisation:
1. Consciously brought into existence for predetermined objectives.
2. Authority and responsibility are defined.
3. The line of communication is also formalised.
4. The relationship of the superior and the subordinates is fixed.
5. It exists in a written form, and facilitates the determination of objectives and policies according to
division of work.
