TEACHING OF LIMIT AND DERIVATIVE THROUGH MAPLE PROGRAMS

Abstract 

This research is devoted to teaching limit and derivative related topics through the help of Maple Programs from high 

school based math. 

This work shows how pupils may lean such issues by the help of Maple easily despite its being difficulty. Firstly herein 

is tackled the writing instructions of limit and derivatives on the Maple programs. Later, there is discussed the topic 

definition related issues and theorems. 

After the definitions and derivatives are identified, some related examples are  set from easy ones to complicate ones. 

For writing some of limits and derivatives in a graphic styled way is also set exact examples by the help of program. 

It was made much easier to be understood by pupils by preparing  animation for graphics. 

History 

We begin with a brief history of Maple, from are search 

project at a university to a leading position in education, research, 

and industry.The  first concept of  Maple  and initial versions were 

developed  by the Symbolic Computation Group at the 

University of Waterloo in the early 1980s.Every year new version of MAPLE is released. Last version is MAPLE 18. 

Limits 

One of the first topics discussed in calculus is that of limits. Maple can be used to investigate limits graphically and 

numerically. In addition, the Maple command 

                       limit(f(x),x=a) 

attempts to compute the limit of y = f (x) as x approaches a, limx→a f (x), where a can be a finite number,    

∞(infinity), 

or−

∞ (-infinity).
