contaminants elimination capabilities of pristine LDHs and LDH-based
ternary composite from aqueous environments were then compared in this
research. As a result, of the BET analysis, it was determined that pristine
binary Zn/Al and Ca/Al LDH compositions have very low specific surfaces
which gives them limited ability of absorbing polluting metals from the
aqueous environment. When LDHs are combined with the other
semiconductor materials, this research showed that LDH-based hybrids
seem to be ideal nanocomposite materials for photocatalytic applications.
