indicating that it is an excellent potential reservoir. A number of diagenetic
properties, including quartz & feldspar dissolution, cementation, occurrence
of authigenic clay minerals, cementation have been shown to affect reservoir
quality and formation within the petrographical and sedimentological
investigations. The formation is considered being potential reservoir, according
to quantitative and qualitive well log analysis, because all of investigated
wells have reasonable mean effective porosity figures of greater that 14%,
relatively lower values of water saturation less than 30%, greater mean
hydrocarbon saturation rates of more than 70%, and reasonable net pay
zones [2].
The Southern North Sea Basin's Sandringham Sands Formation is a
roughly 50-meter-thick, widely transgressive sequence of waves and tide-
predominated shallow marine sands. Within this sad-dominated unit, large
scaled depositional surfaces which are inclined in the center section of the
Leziate Beds display notable lateral and vertical changes in permeability. The
Carstone Formation's base, transgression estuarine/palaeovalley-fill sediments
have the greatest permeability variation in the examining region (ranging
between 1160–1400 cm). Vast range of permeability heterogeneities (ranging
between 4-17 Darcy) are observed just above transgressive surface/
compound sequence borderline (at 1160 cm) and is caused by each of
significant structural diversity (broad variety of grain sorting and size) and
modest diagenetic processes (cementation of iron-oxide) [3].
In conclusion, the depositional model presented for the Intra-Draupne
Formation may be used as analogue when exploring similar, high quality,
shallow marine reservoir sands. The Kaimiro Formation has been recognized
as a potential reservoir having high quantity flow units with increased storage
capacity potential. Higher permeability horizons in the Carstone Formation
can cause otherwise prospective reservoirs to have lower sweep efficiency
and deliver less than expected recovery.
