Q181. Describe a person with historical significance in your
country. Explain the reason for his or her importance.
A. Sample Answer
When asked to describe a person with historical
significance in America, many would say
Barrack Obama. However, I reject those opinions and would say President George Washington.
First, he became the first president of the United States of America
and was sworn into office on
April 30
th
, 1789. As the first president, he set up many precedents that
the following forty-three
presidents would abide by. One of them is the basis of a two term presidency, which he did so by
stepping down after serving two – four year terms. Another tradition that came about and shaped the
American political world was the president’s own choosing of his cabinet members. He also warned
against foreign entanglements, which would help the succeeding presidents
in running the newly
found country. Because Washington worked off of merit and denied any royal treatment, all while
successfully pulling an unstable country through some difficult times
and setting up precedents in
which our country still abides by, President George Washington is the most
historically significant
person in my country
