Summary:
This article analyzes the forms of quatrains in the lyrics of one of the modern
poets, Mahmoud Toir, and issues of tradition, experience, and renewal in them.

Mahmoud Toir’s creativity attracts our special attention with its creativity and great interest.
In the poet's poetry, along with epics, poems, etc., poems in small lyrical forms also occupy a
special place. Therefore, in this article, we will discuss one of the small lyrical forms that are widely
used in the poet’s work: quatrains and their characteristics. We want to think about the traditions of
classical poetics and the issues of their development.
In Mahmud Toir’s work, it is noticeable that small forms of lyrics, especially quatrains, are
widely used. If we describe the small-volume works of this lyric in terms of form in literary studies,
we can see that the term “small lyrical forms” is being used by scientists [1.,2.,3.]. The term
quatrain is defined as a separate genre in the "Dictionary of Literary Studies": Quatrain - 1) a poem
consisting of four lines, a genre of
ruboiynavism
in folk oral works and classical Eastern poetry. A
form of poetry that is very common in modern Uzbek poetry as a continuation of his mother; a
lyrical genre classified by form. In contrast to the classic lyrical genres of
