Why is this? Should young people be encouraged to play or perform classical music? Classical music has fallen out of favor among youngsters in some parts of the world. While the causes of this trend vary, I believe efforts should be made to encourage this age group to pursue this genre of music.
One of the chief reasons why the number of young people interested in classical music is in the minority has to do with cultural illiteracy. That is, most young people grow up listening to modern musicians like Jay-Z, Eminem, and Beyoncé while being entirely unaware of the cultural significance of classical era artists such as Mozart and Beethoven. Though some young people are taught pieces of classical musicians as part of the school curriculum, the majority disregard such a rich facet of our culture. Moreover, learning to play classical music often proves a daunting task for many young people. This is because instruments used in this genre – the piano, violin, and cello – take many years to master, unlike less challenging ones like the guitar, which takes a relatively short period of time.
Regardless of the above-mentioned reasons, I am strongly in favor of having the young learn to play some form of classical music. This is primarily because it helps them enhance their cognitive performance. Many studies have confirmed marked mental stimulation as a result of exposure to classical music. As such, not only does learning to perform classical music make people of young age more artistic, but also display improved performance in the school context. Playing classical music also helps young people develop desirable qualities like discipline and consistence, seeing as mastering a complex musical instrument like the piano requires sustained practice of the instrument. Hence, in an attempt to learn to play this type of music, young people learn to become patient and persistent.
In conclusion, even though the growing disinterest of young people in classical music is for several reasons, this music genre has a great deal to offer in terms of heightened mental activation and positive personal traits.

Research shows that the right amount of sleep is necessary for good health, and that many people are not getting enough sleep. Why do you think people are not getting enough sleep? What might be the best ways to solve this problem? That sleeping enough plays an essential part in providing us with good health has been proven by studies. They also show that a large number of people these days are sleep-deprived. While there are a number of factors that can explain why this is happening, several effective measures can be taken to deal with this issue.
I believe that the causes of the lack of sleep vary across age groups, and perhaps the principal reason for adults is the rising cost of life. Salaries don't tend to rise in accordance with such costs as rent, utility bills, petrol and grocery expenses, thereby putting people at pressure. Having had no choice, adults have to work in multiple places, or overtime in one job, to earn money to provide for themselves and their family members. However, as far as children are concerned, the cause of the lack of sleep has to do with technology. Most children, if not all, these days have access to electronic gadgets - including, but not limited to, smartphones and computers - which tend to cause addiction. Because children are less likely to have self-control, they usually sacrifice some of their sleep time to chatting online and playing games, which was the case with me in my childhood.
There are two most effective ways to remedy the problem of lacking sleep for both adults and children. Regarding the former, companies need to allow some time for employees to take naps, which is a widely practiced activity in some Japanese companies. These companies are well-aware of the importance of sleep for productivity, and they even provide adjustable chairs for a comfortable sleeping setup. This solution is workable and is a win-win for both employees and companies, as well-rested workers tend not to make any mistakes. As for the latter category of people, parental supervision is likely to be the most optimal suggestion. This is because it is parents who give access to the abovementioned devices, and they should set boundaries on their use by, for instance, taking away their children's cell phones after 22:00.
Overall, the reason why adults get an inadequate amount of sleep nowadays seems to be the pressures of modern life, whereas for children it is the impact of technology. Nevertheless, steps taken by companies and parents can easily make a difference to alleviate this issue.
