Synthesıs of Some New Mercapto 1,2,4-Trıazınon Compounds

In this study 4-amino-3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-on is synthesized from the reaction of glioxylic acid monohydrate as starting compound with thiocarbohydrazide. 4-Amino-3-methylthio-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-on was obtained from the reaction of 4-amino-3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-on with methyl iodide.

The five S-alkyl derivates of 4-amino-3-methylthio-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-on were obtained from the reactions of various alkylthiols. By the reaction of the 4-amino-3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-on with the aldehydes, three Schiff bases were synthesized.

Structures of the synthesized compounds are characterized by elemental analysis, 1H-NMR and IR spectra after the purification of the compounds by either chromatographic or crystalization methods.
