Indoor and Outdoor Airborne Bacterial Concentrations in the Different Regions of İstanbul
The people who live in big cities, a result of possibilities of social life, spend their times indoor than outdoor. In technological period that generally living urban life, minimize duration of stay in the open field especially in crowded metropolis like İstanbul, indoor air quality becomes important for public health and indoor air pollutions becomes the reason of microbial contamination. In this contamination airborne bacteria is an important factor.
In this study, the south-west of Istanbul, the outdoor and indoor airborne in the total number of aerobic bacteria (CFU/m3) and environmental parameters (temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, etc.) effects were detected. 22 different stations were selected for outdoor and indoor air sampling. Working outdoor stations, the coastal areas, the concentration of traffic and open areas have been targeted as. Indoor stations are internal media and public use within the sampling area of the building and kinder garden.
As a result, for indoor, person number, the time that people live indoor, temperature, relative humidity is affected on bacteria concentrations. Aquatic, forested, urban traffic and dense industrial activities are performed in areas close to intense, seasonal differences, relative humidity, wind, such as the impact of weather variables on the outdoor concentration of bacteria was determined.
