Germination And Seed Characteristics of Some Hungarian Oak (Quercus Frainetto Ten.) Origins of Turkey
This research has been done to obtain the data about Hungarian Oak seeds in six origin of Turkey. Research was made with collected seeds from Demirköy, Şarköy, Sarıyer, Kerpe, M. Kemalpaşa and Kuşadası in 2008.
Various measurement of seed characteristics (diameter, height, weight per 1000 seeds and moisture), germination and tetrazolium test were completed.
The result of the and analysis showed that there were some significant differences among the provenances of Hungarian Oak. According to the germination test results, the highest germination percent were obtained from Şarköy and Demirköy provenance (%90) and while the lowest percent were obtained from Kuşadası (%64). The tetrazolium test result showed that the highest degree is Demirköy (%87) and the lowest degree is Kerpe (%43).
According to passing sand layer test results; the highest grade were obtained from Demirköy (%82) and while the lowest percent were obtained from Kerpe (%43). Mean germination energy values of Hungarian Oak provenences were also found significentlly different (Kerpe %31, Kuşadası %14)
The seeds of Kuşadası provenence gave the highest weight per 1000 seeds value (3,375), while the lowest weight per 1000 seeds was of Demirköy provenence (1,794).
According to the correlation analysis results, in comparison of tetrazolium and germination test a high correlation value was obtained (r= 0,906).
