The Comparision of The Construction Analyses Results of The Conventional Methods To The Results of Analyses Considering Sequential Loading Effect
Many forces such as wind forces, earthquake forces, live loads ... etc act on structures. Civil engineers design structures to confront these forces safely. All possible effects that may come up during or after construction period should be considered. Otherwise, potential negative results can be extremely dangerous for human life.
Because structural elements are build one on other, new elements cannot be produced until the completion of the former. Therefore construction period is interrupted and staged. Because of staged construction, dead loads of the structure is applied sequentially. Displacements, occured due to such loads, changes in each step.
In classical structural analysis methods, all forces related with the structure are assumed to be applied on the structure simultaneously and analysis of the structure is performed based on this hypothesis. However, this is not valid for real construction provision. Staged construction case claims several conditions which are not considered in classical analysis methods. The reality, which cannot be noticed by most of the civil engineers, creates an uncertainity for structural safety. Therefore, for the sake of human life this unknown should be exposed.
In this study a computer program performing three dimensional structural analysis considering staged loading case is programmed. The difference between the results of structural analysis carried out considering staged loading effect and the results of structural analysis carried out with classical analysis methods is put forward by the help of this computer program.
In this study it is emphesized that it is very important to use sequential loading analyses method in non-regular structures illustrated by certain examples. Developed computer program calculated extra deformations up to 69.09% in some structural points different than classical analyses methods. For this reason classical analyses methods are not useful in asymmetric structures. Sequential loading method should be used in such cases in the place of classical analyses methods. Moreover it is stated that the increase in frame forces and support reactions are very dangerous for structural safety.
Although in some structural points vertical displacements are calculated less than classical analyses methods, it is stated that it would not cause any safety problems. Frame forces and support reaction are supporting this conclusion. With this study an uncertainity, closely relating with the human life and structural safety, is eliminated.
