Developing A Computer Program Based On Finite Element Method And Analysis Of Plane Stress – Plane Strain Problems
In this study plane stress and plane strain problems, which are the subjects of plane elasticity theory and named as “plane elasticity problems” were examined. The objective of this study is to form the subroutines, which can analyze plane elasticity problems in a part of a computer program based on Finite Element Method (FEM). In order to achieve this aim, a computer program TUNAL written in FORTRAN and using FEM was used. Linear triangle finite elements with two linear degrees of freedom at each node and with three corner nodes were used in finite element models formed for the examined problems in the scope of the study. The subroutines, which can analyze in accordance with the formulation of these elements were created in a part of the existing program, which can analyze structural systems consisting of two dimensional truss and / or frame elements within the limits of linear – elastic behavior. In order to verify the subroutines, finite element models formed for the problems were also analyzed with the computer program SAP2000 (Ver. 9.0.3) and the results obtained from these programs were compared. Furthermore, application fields and sufficiency of the linear triangle finite elements used for the finite element analyses were examined by comparing the numerical results obtained from the two programs with the analytical solution results given for these problems.
