Estimation of The Mechanical Properties of Portland Cement Pastes with The Aid of Simple Mathematical Models
In this study, mathematicals models are developed for the compressive strenght and elasticity modules of the mixed and un-mixed Portland Cement pastes on the basis of the micromechanic approach and by means of the principle of total transfiguration .
In the first section, the relation between the behaviour of the materials and the mechanical properties are reviewed through the mathematical equations.
In the second section, a general review of the simple micromechanical models is provided. The models are defined and, then the equations developed by the scientists are analyzed to make comparisons through graphic figures.
The following section is devoted to explaining the aim of the thesis. In the literature the relation amongst the porosity-mechanical properties are explained through complex equations. This study shows that simpler equations can be developed based on the assumptions deriven from these complex equations.
In the fourth section of the study, certain assumptions are made to develop an equations to explain the relation between pore size and unit cell element/component, which lead to the development of strenght equation. In the same way, for the elasticy modules, certain assumptions are made to develop elasticy equation based on porosity.
In the fifth section, the laboratory experiments setting, where the mixed and un-mixed portland cement are analyzed is explained. The treatments on the samples and the calculation procedures are reviewed.
In the sixt section, the data of the results of the experiments are summarized on the tables. The comparisons between the experimental results and the equations are illustrated through graphic figures.
In the last section, the conclusions are briefly summarized and discussed
