THE EFFECTIVENESS OF AUTHENTIC MATERIAL IN PROMOTING SPOKEN ENGLISH

Challenges:


Identifying suitable authentic materials:
One of the challenges in this study is the selection of appropriate authentic materials that align with the learners' proficiency levels and learning objectives. Careful consideration will be given to ensure that the materials are authentic, engaging, and relevant to the learners' interests and contexts.
Addressing potential language proficiency gaps among participants:
Participants may have varying levels of language proficiency, which can impact their ability to effectively engage with authentic materials. Strategies such as scaffolded activities, differentiated instruction, and providing support materials will be employed to address these proficiency gaps and ensure that all participants can benefit from the activities.
Ensuring engagement and motivation during activities:
Engaging learners and sustaining their motivation throughout the study can be a challenge when using authentic materials. To address this, the activities will be designed to be interactive, communicative, and relevant to real-life situations. Incorporating technology, gamification elements, and collaborative tasks will also be considered to enhance engagement and motivation.

Activities:


Implementation of authentic material-based activities:
Participants will engage in a variety of activities that utilize authentic materials, such as role-plays, discussions, debates, and simulations. These activities will provide opportunities for learners to practice speaking skills in authentic contexts and develop their ability to communicate effectively in real-life situations.
Integration of speaking and listening skills development:
The activities will focus on integrating speaking and listening skills, as effective spoken English requires both comprehension and production abilities. Learners will engage in listening tasks, such as watching videos or listening to audio recordings, followed by speaking activities that require them to respond, discuss, or express their opinions.
