Pupil A: What’s your favourite month?
Pupil B: My favourite month is January. I have winter holidays. (Turns to the next pupil) What’s your favourite month?
Pupil C: My favourite month is ... . I have ... , etc.
Activity 5b Report. Objective: to report about the 3rd person singular When everybody has finished reporting about themselves in 5a, you can organise the next step: reporting about the next pupil. You can start by reporting about the first pupil in the line as follows:
You (showing the first pupil):His/her favourite month is January. S/he has winter holidays.
Pupil A (showing the pupil next to him/her): His/her favourite month is ... . S/he has ..., etc.
OPTIONAL If you have time, you can do the following activities as well.
Activity 1 Read and guess. Objectives: to develop the pupils’ critical thinking; to infer the answer from the context and key points. The pupils read the following text and guess the month coming out of the key points.
This month starts with ‘S’. It has nine letters and 30 days. In this month we have Independence Day. Pupils start school. Answer Key:September.
Activity 2 Work in pairs. Play “Ask and find”. Objectives: to enable the pupils to ask and answer questions; to have fun. Explain that Pupil A thinks of his/her favourite month. Pupil B finds it asking questions as shown in the example. The pupils change roles when Pupil B finds the month.
e.g. A: (thinks of a month, e.g. “April”)
B: Is it March?
A: No
B: Is it April?
A: Yes.
Homework Explain that the pupils must do Activity 1 at first and then do Activity 2 (making a quiz) on a piece of paper. Explain that you will collect and keep them until the 4th lesson of the unit where you will use them.
Note: Remind the pupils to bring pocket calendars for the next lesson.
