Reza Hazare is an Afghan artist born in an Afganian refugee family. He
graduated from the Visual Arts School of Teheran in 2005, and moved
right after in Azerbaijan where he pursued his studies. In 2012 he
finished study at Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts.
An Afghan artist Reza Hazare living in Azerbaijan. Originally coming
from a country ruled by Sharia law, Reza`s art has a strong patriarchal
character; even his choice of the medium – pencil and paper – is old
fashioned. His inner being is thorn between East/South and West /
North. He came from an Islamic country to Azerbaijan, a secular
environment to which he now needs to adapt.
Hezare works constantly questions the living conditions of human
beings after a war has ended, the status of refugees, and the way one
can rebuild life after such events. His works is focused on the meaning
of life, the crisis of traditional society and immigration issues. Reza
explore the events that took place within my nation after the civil war –
the absence of civil values as well as basic human rights, the
disintegration of my family in exile. I am interested in the paradoxes of
human thinking and actions in different situations. Through my work I
strive to achieve a better position, satisfaction and peace for the
forgotten man.
