IMPORTANT NOTICE TO MEMBERS OF CBA

CBA Parking and Building Use

Following the roof leaks we have experienced, we sat down with our landlord to review a number of items relevant to the CBA Bridge Center occupancy on Cooper Road.

1) The owners have paid to have our carpet cleaned due to the leaks. They will also replace

all ceiling tiles at no cost to us. We do not have mold.

2) PARKING – Our lease states we have exclusive use of the rear lot, with the exception of access

to the loading dock. We also have the right to use a few of the handicapped spaces in front of the building, since there is no handicapped ramp in the rear of the building.

We are abusing our parking privileges!

During any day games during the week, do not park in front of the building unless you have a handicapped sticker. Then be sure to park only in the outlined, designated handicapped parking spaces.

Do not park on the drive on the side of the building except when the rear lot is full.
There are other tenants in the building who utilize these parking spaces. Please follow these rules.

  1. Our public address system (microphone) carries through the dead space above our ceiling tiles and often disturbs other tenants. Directors, please keep the volume control down to a minimum. Players, please be quiet during announcements so the director doesn’t have to turn up the volume.

Please remember, we are not the only tenants in the building and they are as important as we are. Thoughtfulness is paramount.

Thanks, for cooperating,
Bill Higgins

The Zero Tolerance Committee Report
on
The Gentle Art of the Insult
Once again your venerable chairman comes before you to urge us all to be exemplars of kindness and of courtesy. Lately I’ve been deluged with complaints about rudeness and boorishness at the table. Here is an example of how these altercations escalate:
“You’re late! We have three boards to play!” (A slight misdemeanor)
“You’re always late!” (The slight misdemeanor has now become a major character flaw.)
Everybody knows you’re always late!” (This has now elevated into an egregious scandal,

worthy of a class action suit.)

Please! Let’s lighten up and display a little patience.
Another technique of intimidation is the calling for the director at every little whipstitch.

Every sigh, every glance, every moment of hesitation evokes the spine-chilling call -- DIRECTOR!”

Please! Let’s have a modicum of forbearance in these matters.
I’ve observed that all of these disputes involve two participants, each of whom thinks he is in the right. Well, Aristotle taught that if two people disagree, they both can be wrong but they both cannot be right! Therefore, let’s not complain about the speck in another’s eye and ignore the plank in our own.
The purpose of the Zero Tolerance Committee, and indeed all of us, is to resolve the unresolvable, to right the unrightable, and to bring peace where strife prevails. Let us all be exemplars of kindness, courtesy and forbearance, and make our little club a happy place to be!

Walter S. Bunker

Chairman of the Zero Tolerance Committee

LOST & FOUND

A fairly valuable bracelet was found in July at the Cincinnati Bridge Center on Cooper Road.

If you think it might be yours, please see Alex Pappas.

Player Appreciation Party

at the Bridge Center

Sunday, August 18

This first-time ever event was a huge success!

The players brought food for a potluck; everyone played for free and the director, Jodie Kiefer, donated her services for free. The food was excellent and a good time was had by all. The

only requirements for participation were that you

be an ACBL member and you have played at the

Bridge Center at least four times in the past six months. The winners were:

Flight A: Hal Norris-Joy Norris

Each pair was entered in a jackpot provided by the CBA. The winners of each flight won $14 per pair.
