CECELIA (“SIS”) GLEISINGER

Today I am writing to you to ask for your vote in the upcoming election for new board members. I am currently holding a position on the Board that was vacated earlier in the year. My first job on the Board was at the June StaC coordinating all the hospitality for that week. The next event that has me busy (with the help of numerous other CBA members) is the CBA Charity Bash which will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6th.

I realize none of this is possible without the support of my family. Joe, my husband, and our six children have been very patient and supportive of my activities on the Board. I believe our Board and its members are dedicated and hard working individuals who use their time and resources to benefit us all. I thank you for your consideration and support.

RALPH ISAACS

Over two years ago I was appointed to the CBA Board of Directors to complete the term of a departing board member. My principal activities have been the purchase of the Duplimate, as well as training the directors to use it. Starting in February of this year, I’ve been keeping busy as the CBA Treasurer. My major goal, in representing you, is to keep the Bridge Center as friendly and accommodating to its members as possible.

JOSEPH LUTZ

I began playing duplicate in Dallas, Texas, in 1960. From 1966 until 1972 I served the Dallas unit as Tournament Chairman and board member. In 1973, when we moved to Northern Michigan, I taught beginning and intermediate bridge at the area community college and started a local duplicate game. Since 1986 I have been a member of our Cincinnati unit and, as I have now begun to work only part-time, I know I would have the time to devote to service of our unit as a Board member and in some way pay back, in service, a great game and hobby which has been a part of my life for the past forty years.

PAT NEWMAN

If elected to the CBA Board, I would make any effort possible to ensure that you are able to enjoy friendly, fun bridge sessions. I feel that accomplishing that, we may be able to entice some of our novice players to our side of the room which would create a better bridge world for all players. I have been a certified director for 25 years and was a board member in Detroit for 16 years. Having directed many, many games over the years, I feel my experience would be beneficial to the CBA.

ALEX PAPPAS

As the former manager of the Bridge Center for three years, I have always worked hard to make the Bridge Center a viable and pleasant venue. Having served on the CBA Board six years previously, now after a year’s hiatus I am running again.

FRED POLLACK

I am a college professor of mathematics and a statistical consultant. I was a very serious bridge player in the mid-90s, representing Canada in many world championships with high overall finishes in events such as the Rosenblum Cup. Nowadays, my bridge interests are more directed towards teaching, promoting and writing. I have been a CBA Board member (appointed to fill a vacant term) for the last two years, chairing many different committees. I would appreciate your vote to continue my work for the members of the CBA.

JERRY VIOLETTA

(Q) Tell us about yourself.

(A) I’m the retired guy who always wears a baseball cap and shops at the thrift shop next door.

(Q) What is your experience with the CBA?

(A) I have been an active member since the 70s, having been on the Board for two terms. I was the one who approached the Board about having a bridge center.

Voila – Norwood! I enlisted the membership to vote in term limits. I was also an involved member in the last

two Cincinnati Nationals.

(Q) Why do you want to be on the CBA Board?

(A) It’s my turn again.

(Q) Why should we vote for you?

(A) My experience with the Board and my ability to work as a team member. Also being both a day and a night player, I know 90% of the members and, as their representative, I can present to the Board their concerns and views.

LINDA WOLBER

As a current Board member, my 3-year term is coming to an end and I would very much appreciate your vote for another term.

For over 20 years I have served the bridge community, beginning with chairing “Play Bridge for Kids” plus many other special events. I also teach beginning bridge and currently direct and teach bridge on cruise ships. During previous terms on the Board, I served as Vice-President and President and chaired numerous committees.

I have enjoyed being your President again this past year. If reelected, you will have two people working very hard for the CBA. That other person is my husband.
