Tin bronzes have a high anti-friction-frictional wear resistance, are resistant to
creep,
are resistant to cold, and are not magnetic.
Disadvantage is tendency to
formation of voids in casting.
When
alloyed with phosphorus,
mechanical, technological and antifriction
properties increase . If lead is added ; density increases, antifriction increases; cutting
becomes easier; but the mechanical properties deteriorate .
Zinc improves
technological properties , iron (0.09%) improves mechanical properties . If the level of
alloying is exceeded, the corrosion resistance and technological
properties will
suddenly decrease.
