- when the plate temperature is fixed at a higher or lower temperature, more
than 5°C than the optimum temperature, after re-welding the rail plets;
- when the “loss” of the fastening temperature of the rail plates results in the
escape from the axis of the road and the occurrence of axial irregularities;
- when performing repairs and road work and, as a necessity, losing sharp turns
on the road and other similar points. [2]
There are two possible options for the discharge of temperature stresses
(bringing the railroad strands into the calculated fixing interval to a permanent
mode):
- bracing of a braid, starting from one of its ends, accompanied by a change of
equalizing rails (or one rail) from
the same end of the strip;
- simultaneous loosening of a strip from both ends accompanied by the change
of counterweight rails from both ends of the rail strip.
When entering the bracing to the calculated interval of bracing, the
requirements of stress distribution uniformity along the length of for each strip: the
temperature difference of a strip during its anchoring for the whole period of for the
entire period of work should not exceed 3°С, and the temperature of the rail sections
of both rail strands should not exceed 5°С. [2]
In order to fully relieve stresses rail strands after release from fastening on
sleepers and joints should be hung on suspension rollers or paired polyethylene plates
with a total thickness of 10-12 mm, or on metal roller supports (rollers with a
diameter of 20-22 mm) installed on every 15th sleeper. [2]
In places where rollers are installed, the sub-rail shims are temporarily
removed. Roller design must ensure safe and quick installation and removal, as well
as perpendicularity to the rail axis (Fig. 13.8). Inventory paired plates with low
friction coefficient (sliding pairs) with a total thickness of 8-10 mm do not require
removal of the main sub-rail shims. [2]
Trains are warned to reduce speed to 25 km/h for the duration of discharging
with the help of sliding pairs, on bridges and tunnels - down to 15 km/h. The
