Assessment of Language Skills: Productive Skills
185
(ii) Teacher Assessment: After
the peer assessment, the T collects all
Dictation Sheets and evaluates how many of the
students correctly spelt
how many of the assessed words. Depending on these analyses, s/he
decides how to proceed next:
(i) More than 70% of the students were successful:
Proceed and
introduce the next topic
(ii) Only a few of the words are problematic for the bulk of the
students: Prepare more tasks focusing on those
words so that students
can practice their spelling.
(iii) More than two-thirds of the students have problems: Find a new
method, create new materials and present the topic once more in class.
(iii) Teacher feedback and Student Collaborative Work: After
perusing all “Dication Sheets” and providing the necessary corrections
in the “Teacher” columns (see Example 4b), in the next lesson s/he asks
the Sts who worked together to pair again
and to compare and contrast
the T’s and their spelling and correction suggestions.
