Example 2d: Example
FA feedback
Student 1
(i) Used 8 out of the 12 chores we talked about
(ii) 5
of the uses were correct, but S1 made 6 mistakes
(iii) S1’s main problem is the irregular form of the verbs in Simple Past
Tense (3 mistakes)
*Give S1 more exercise to practice irregular verbs in Simple Past Tense
(iv) S1 said, “
My sister make her bed every morning”, but s/he did not
have problems with other sentences in Simple Present Tense. Still,
listen
carefully for other such mistakes.
(v) Check with other activities whether S1 will continue to use ‘make the
vacuuming.’
(vi) Explain to S1 that ‘do the dishes’ only means ‘washing the dishes’
and is not interchangeable with ‘dry the dishes’
Overall
(i) None of the Sts used ‘do the washing-up’ and ‘load the dishwasher.’
*Create activities where Sts will have to use those to check their
knowledge
(ii) Four of the mistakes were related to the use of the
irregular verbs in
the past tense
*Revise the past forms of irregular verbs in English, find new materials
that make the topic more accessible and more memorable for the Sts
(iii) Discuss the difference between ‘make the bed’ and ‘doing the beds’
where the latter
is a part of the housework
(1) Make your bed, you are old enough now.
(2) I’ll do the ironing as soon as I’ve done the beds.
