A HYBRID ENCRYPTION ALGORITHM BASED ON AES-RSA

Abstract - To improve the security of message transfer a new hybrid algorithm system is proposed. AES algorithm is used
for encrypting the message, because of its high speed; AES algorithm is considered one of the best for encrypting the long
messages, datas. The key of AES will be encrypted with RSA, because its high secure and advantages in key cipher. Still
the procedure of encryption is simple and takes small amount of time as in AES.
Introduction - Today, various cryptographic algorithms have been developed. These are broadly classified as symmetric
key (DES, TDES, Blowfish, CAST, IDEA, RC4, RC6, AES) and asymmetric key (RSA, ECC) algorithms. These
algorithms are used in reliable communication, e-commerce, e-banking, reliable e-mail communication and etc. The prime
requirements for any e-commerce and m-commerce transactions are Privacy, Authentication, Integrity maintenance and
Non-Repudiation. Cryptography helps us in achieving these prime requirements.
Secure and saving time is the most important factors for consumer in sending data. In symmetric key algorithms same key
are used for encryption and decryption, while in asymmetric key algorithms one key is used for encryption, another for
decryption (but these keys are related to each other). Asymmetric key algorithms are disadvantageous when we want to
encrypt a long plaintext, because it takes much time. Symmetric key algorithms are disadvantageous, when two people want
to send message to each other, because the key can be found by third person. In these cases hybrid cryptosystems are the
most favorable. In this paper we introduce a hybrid cryptosystem based on AES and RSA.
