The scope of this research is to study the phase behaviour of the ionic liquids for ethane and methane solubility in
advance build up the relationships between phase behaviour and thermodynamic properties to gain
knowledge for future
industrial applications.
In this research were studied is to explore ionic liquids and their potential for CH4 and C2H6 capture at diverse
concentrations and temperatures. Gases solubility was measured using an IGA 003 (Intelligent Gravimetric Analyzer, Hiden
Analytical) for a range of ionic liquids.C2h6 solubility was measured at 25, 40 and 60 C temperatures and CH4 was only
measured at 25 with pressure range from 100 mbar to 20,000 mbar. Peng-Robinson (PR-EoS), SoveRedlich-Kwong (SRK)
with quadratic mixing rules, and Non-Random Two-Liquid (NRTL) activity coefficient model are used for thermodynamic
modeling to correlate the experimental C2H6 and CH4 solubility. Binary interaction parameters were obtained for the
correlations. Besides the entropies and enthalpies of absorption were also calculate and Henry’s Law constants for C2H6
and CH4 were found out from the ionic liquids.
