EDGAR ALLAN POE’S LIFE REFLECTED IN HIS WORKS

Edgar Allan Poe is a critic, mystery and short story writer, and most importantly a prominent poet. He is considered
the inventor of the detective fiction genre. Besides, he is a representative of the American Romantic Movement.
Edgar Allan Poe was born as the son of an actor in Boston, on January 19, 1809. His parents' tragic death left young
Edgar to be raised by his Godfather John Allan. He was educated abroad and later at the University of Virginia. Poe`s some
addictions, such as gambling eventually led to frequent arguments with his Godfather and dropping out from the University
without getting degree. As Poe was in debt and shunned by John Allan, he went to Boston to join U.S. Army in 1827. There
he released his first book named "Tamerlane and Other Poems" which gained no attention and a bit later “Al Aaraaf”,
“Tamerlane and Minor Poems” had been published in Baltimore. Hereafter, he went to New York City and became an
