Describe something you did that was difficult but successful.
Well, almost everything we do that turns out to be successful comes at the expense of our time and efforts. I realize this and whenever I have difficulties in my studies I remember it and it pushes me forward.
Last year, I decided to pick up a new language and after some consideration I chose Chinese. I know it’s a bit odd decision considering Chinese language is one of the most difficult languages to learn. But I really wanted to give it a try. One of the reasons why I was interested in it was that I found Chinese culture and history appealing. I’ve read many books and I have watched many documentaries about the culture and history of the country and it’s so vast that it never seems to end. And I thought that would be amazing if I could understand papers and books written in Chinese not just their translations into English or Uzbek.
First thing I did to start my journey into the language was to find materials to study and I found tons of them online for free. After learning some basic aspects of the language I wanted to expose myself to some real Chinese conversations, so I started watching short clips in Chinese. At this point, it was still difficult because even though I was spending 2-3 hours every day learning the language, I seemed to make no progress at all. But I didn’t want to give up. I spent another 5 months before I could in fact understand when others speak it and then I started using it in my day to day conversations with some of my friends who could speak the language. I still haven’t finished learning everything about Chinese, I guess I never will. But I’m proud that I can speak Chinese fluently now.

Describe a house or apartment you often visit
I don’t really like visiting someone’s house or apartment as a guest because thanks to my introverted nature, I always feel awkward and uncomfortable when they treat me like a guest. For example, they prepare meals and drinks and that is very strange for me because I always feel that I bother them. So, I always try to avoid visiting someone’s house repeatedly.
But there is this friend of mine who I have been friends with since I was in elementary school and God knows how many times I have been to their house and maybe because of this I always feel welcome whenever I pay a visit to them. Actually, these days it doesn’t happen all that often, probably a couple of times a month because we both work and don’t have time to just visit each other’s frequently. But in the past, when I was a kid, I used to spend a lot of my summer holidays in my friend’s house. We would do all sorts of stuff but most of the time we’d play computer games and go swimming.
What I like about visiting their house is that it makes me feel home and whenever I go there, my friend’s mom prepares something delicious, she’s a great cook and she’s is like my second mom. When it comes to their house itself, it’s a traditional uzbek house and it’s spacious, consisting of 5 or 6 rooms with a small garden. The rooms are separated by thick walls so they are pretty noise proof too cuz you know, as a kid we used make a lot of noise in my friends room. And that’s the place I often visit apart from my own house.
