MOOD

  • Mood is one of the kinds of modality, which may be expressed both by lexical means (modal verbs (may, can, must, etc.) and modal words (perhaps, probably, etc.)).
  • The category of mood presents the interpretation of the action by the speaker from the point of view of its relation to reality.
  • Most of Russian grammarians distinguish three moods in Modern English. It is a traditional division.
  • Indicative expressing real facts.
  • Imperative expressing command, order, request.
  • Subjunctive expressing something desirable, problematic, unreal etc
