Solving location-allocation problem using Self Organizing (Kohonen) Maps and an application
In this study, Self-Organizing Maps technique is used to solve Uncapacitated Multi-Facility Weber Problem and as an application, I’ve studied on locating a warehouse which will minimize the cost of distribution of the company that produces asphalt.
As an application, a code has been written on C programming language for Self-Organizing Maps and the code has been applied on the data of Esnaf’s and Küçükdeniz’s study. As a result, the distribution point which has the optimum cost for each cluster has been chosen and the results have been benchmarked.
In the first part; the mission of the study is explained shortly. In the second part; literature survey and the techniques that are used to prepare this thesis is discussed. The technique like SOM algorithm which is used for solving multi-facility Weber problem is discussed in details. In the third part, the study which is carried is explained. Finally, the details and the results of the study are given.
