The Acquisition of Geographic Data Through Softcopy Photogrammetry in Forestry
Nowadays many of the maps for using in Turkey’s forestry applications are produced by photogrammetric methods. Parallel to the development in computer technology, instruments used in photogrammetric studies replaced from very complex old analog and analytic photogrammetric instrument to computer software and hardware. Thus maps, they produced in hardcopy formats in the past that, are now producing in digital (softcopy) formats and they can be evaluated in geographic information systems. In this research, today’s technologic opportunities are applicated on one research area to understand how to obtain geographic data’s using by softcopy (digital) photogrammetric methods in forestry applications.
In the first chapter, photogrammetry concept is shortly explained and this thesis’ aims and scopes are denoted.

n the second chapter, the development of photogrammetry science, its usage in forestry applications and importance are shortly described and its place in the literature is underlined.
In the third chapter, related to softcopy photogrammetric methods, photogrammetry and photointerpretation principles are explained and approaches to these methods in forestry applications are interpreted. Then, softcopy photogrammetric methods and in their application processes are explained and flow chart is given.

n the findings chapter, softcopy photogrammetric methods and its processes are applied on the research area and results are evaluated. Based on the results, after the application of aerial triangulation process root mean square error (RMSE) of application model is derived as 1,6230 m. Reffered to built model, digital terrain model and orthophoto maps are produced and are given in the thesis. Additionally, produced digital elevation model is checked on by SRTM data and its results are showed. And based on stereo models, forest stand map and road maps are interpreted and produced, based on stereo models.
In the final chapter, evaluations of the produced data are interpreted and gave some suggestions about how to utilize these data are given.
In conclusion, this research, the acquisition of geographic data qualifiaed for using in forestry applications is accomplished in computer media through softcopy photogrammetry.
