The system could be based on the users' hardware or fitted with a 
separate device that connects with the users' gadgets from a technological 
standpoint. We present an implementation of a system in this chapter that 
intends to track the current location of user devices in buildings (e.g., 
shopping malls) without the users' explicit knowledge. As a result, the 
placement procedure will be focused mostly on the administrator's 
infrastructure, and there will be no option to install dedicated software on 
localized devices. These assumptions imply that the suggested solution 
should be based on measurements of the power of the radio signal's 
Received Signal Strength (RSS) under various technologies that are most 
commonly used by consumers. At the same time, RSS is measured during 
normal operation of monitored devices (for example, when updating the list 
of active Wi-Fi access points) and does not use any special features that 
require application layer support. In most circumstances, using location 
technologies that require support (interaction) from the localized device is 
inefficient, as this strategy results in a large reduction in the number of 
monitored devices (only belong to users who have consciously made the 
appropriate configuration). 
The suggested platform groups the investigated technologies into an 
open and programmable platform at the control plane (MAC and routing 
layers), which is easily adaptable to actual requirements from equipment 
positioning system managers. As a result, software will be used to implement 
full support for each radio technology, eliminating the requirement for 
specialized hardware resources. As a result, instead of closed, pricey ZigBee 
solutions, the IEEE 802.15.4 standard will be able to be used, resulting in 
lower product costs.
The obvious advantage of adopting a single hardware platform and 
software-level technology support (rather than expensive hardware 
acceleration) is a significant reduction in transmission and reception costs. 
As a result, many more antennas may be installed in a given area, 
greatly improving location accuracy.
