Increasing the role of efficient use of tourism potential in regional development Technological advances in modern times, improvements in living standards, travel freedom
caused by globalization have led to a rapid increase in the number of people involved in tourism
activities [5, p.371]. As a result of this, the tourism sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in the
world.
Research shows that tourism develops day by day over the world. Most countries are eager to take
part in world tourism revenues by developing this sector in their economies. Thus, world tourism has
grown by 60% in the 1980s and 90s and 52% in 1990-2000. In 1980, the number of tourists with 280
million reached 698 million in 2000 [11, p. 269]. This figure reached 903 million in 2007, reaching
922 million in 2008, dropping to 880 million in 2009. In 2016, Travel & Tourism directly contributed
US$2.3 trillion and 109 million jobs worldwide [12, p.3].As it seems, the tourism sector has grown at
a fast pace, but has continued to grow in general, although there has been slowdowns due to terrorism
or change of economic conditions in some periods. Tourism is an important area that generates 1
trillion 75 billion dollars, causing 1 billion 35 million tourists worldwide. France has agreed to an
average of 90 million tourists in 2014. The United States has been visited by 70 million tourists. Spain
has an average of 60 million tourists per year, China 56 million, Italy 48-50 million, an average of 38-
40 million tourists per year, which is very ideal for winter tourism and summer tourism. In 2023, the
total share of travel and tourism in GDP is estimated at $ 10.5 trillion [13, p.3]. According to the
World Tourism Organization, world tourism will generate $ 2 trillion in 2020, reaching 1602 million
people. The share of North Atlantic, Asian and Pacific Asian countries is expected to increase [8,
p.66]. From this point of view, new changes are expected to be one of the fastest growing sectors in
upcoming years. Because of the tourist activity, along with the emergence of many different spheres,
