Background

Program Description:
The VSA Arts Connect All–Workshop/Residency program provides direct service educational arts experiences of either 5 (five) instructional hours or less per student with a disability, or 6 (six) or more instructional hours per students with disabilities, ages 3 to 22, pre-kindergarten through grade 12.* The program intentionally serves and specifically includes students with disabilities. VSA Arts Connect All–Workshop/Residency programs may take place in self-contained, special education, and/or inclusive classrooms of one or more schools, across school districts, cities, counties, states, or regions. The program may also be executed in community settings such as recreational centers or arts venues.
VSA Arts Connect All–Workshop/Residency programs develop artistic skills and cultural literacy of students with disabilities through the application of sound pedagogical principles, quality curricula, and standards-based/aligned instructional materials that support teaching and learning. The program provides students with disabilities in-depth, hands-on experiences in one or more of the following - performing (drama, dance, music), media, visual, and/or literary arts. Program goals include improving academic achievement and intellectual development; enhancing critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills; and enriching social and interpersonal skills.
*Ages 3–18, or students up to age 22 receiving special education services through the Individuals with Disabilities Act.
Scope of Work
To accomplish the above, eligible and qualified contractors are being sought to perform VSA Arts Connect All–Workshop/Residency programs at the local, state or regional level to expand the Kennedy Center’s program impact.
