him to my culture. There are two ways I could do this. The first way is to take him to important
tourist locations. One important place I would undoubtedly take my friend is New York City. NYC
represents the diversity of my country the best. There are many different types of cultures thriving in
the city, so my friend could understand the importance of diversity in the United States. Another good
way to introduce a foreigner to my country is to watch many movies with him. Films give a fairly
accurate representation of the cultural ideals of the United States. For example, the movie Remember
the Titans shows the after effects of slavery in the States as well as the southern football culture.
Another important movie for him to see would be The Godfather. This film portrays the gangsterism
of America’s past and how immigration has impacted American society. Both movies show elements
of the United States that I wouldn’t necessarily be able to give my friend an experience of first hand.
Thus, in order to help a foreigner learn about my country, I would take him to tourist locations such
as NYC and watch movies with him.
