» moxifloxacin
: 400 mg orally once daily
OR
» levofloxacin
: 750 mg orally once daily
OR
» doxycycline
: 100 mg orally twice daily
OR
» amoxicillin
: 1000 mg orally three times daily
Secondary options
» clindamycin
: 600 mg orally three times daily

After completing at least 2-3 weeks of
intravenous therapy, patients can be switched to
single-agent oral therapy if the patient is deemed
to be stable, to complete a total course of 60
days of treatment.

Amoxicillin should only be used if
B anthracis
is sensitive to penicillin.

Mechanical ventilation, haemodynamic
support, and adjunctive corticosteroid therapy
may be recommended depending on the clinical
presentation. There are limited data to support
the use of corticosteroids; however, intravenous
dexamethasone is the standard of care in
patients with bacterial meningitis, and it may
be considered in select patients with anthrax
meningitis.
