Abstract: The article discusses the essence, types and structure of environmental risks. It has been
determined that the whole variety of risks related to the impact on the environment is defined by one term -
environmental risks. It was noted that under ecological risk, it is possible to understand in advance the
probability of such violations and the degree of danger during one or another anthropogenic intervention in the
natural environment, which may be unfavorable for the future activity and existence of ecological systems,
both in the immediate anthropogenic impact zone and beyond. It is noted that the work carried out in the field
of use in the production process has a serious impact on the environment. Based on the research, the authors
interpret various definitions of the term environmental risk, clarify its main features and structural elements.
The main concepts of environmental risks, their different types and structure are classified. At the same time,
the article also clarifies the issues of determining and assessing the probability of occurrence of environmental
risks, environmental risks, environmental pollution, violations of environmental requirements, natural and
man-made emergencies that cause negative consequences for the activity of enterprises.
