Unit I Language Objectives •
Student will identify and define topic key vocabulary for the Unit I topics.

Student will restate (orally or written) topic information using content-specific terms.
•
Student will organize information (using graphic organizers) according to content-specific
expectations (e.g., Steps of The Scientific Method).

Student will view and listen to English videos related to the Biology topic and summarize the
information presented.
•
Student will analyze and identify grammar structures (e.g., sentence structure, paragraph
structure) using topic readings.
Unit I Learner Activities (same for all unit topics ) •
READING ➢
Student will read articles and identify key vocabulary and main idea of topic.
➢
Student will read articles to identify the structural rules of the English language
(grammar)
. This includes the structure of words, phrases, clauses, sentences,
paragraphs, and whole texts.

WRITING ➢
Student will create graphic organizer for topic information.
➢
Student will create graphic organizer for topic key vocabulary.
➢
Student will create sentences related to given topic (e.g., topic sentence, supporting
detail sentence, summary sentence).

SPEAKING ➢
Student will work in small groups to discuss topic and share understanding of topic
with other group members.
➢
Student will present key vocabulary or main idea of topic to class.

LISTENING ➢
Student will listen to video and identify main ideas and vocabulary.

Student will participate in small groups to discuss topic and listen to other students’
understanding of topic.
