Language, culture and law make for a very interesting area of research, and this
area has been one of the most pressing issues of cognitive linguistics for the last 40
years, because it is understood as a question of thinking. As is now widely
recognized, metaphor is a domain of experience and is often referred to as an
"abstract" goal.
Legal English or legalese is characterized by its density and incomprehensibility.
Special features present in most legal texts make it impossible for ordinary people
to understand the content of contracts, wills and sentences. So in recent years there
have been some movements which say “law should be comprehensible for people”.
