Studies on the Habitats of the İstanbul provinces Native Perennials to be used in Garden and Landscape Design
Istanbul, the workspace is chosen for this thesis, is a very suitable place for plant’s growing with its geographical, geologic, climatic and geomorphologic properties. Therefore, Istanbul has an extraordinary plant variety. This abundance, which is wide this much, is not appreciated and it is destroyed more and more.
The countries which have a long past and experience in terms of landscape studies cultivated their native plants and improved new plant species. In our country, native plants are not known sufficiently so they cannot come into landscape designs.
In this study, determination of the Istanbul provinces’ native perennial species which are suitable for the garden and landscape designs, designation of the proper garden habitats for these perennials, introducing of their usage in landscape designs according to their habitats and representing new approaches and suggestion is aimed.
