Inhibition of Aldose Reductase, Α-Amylase, Monoamine Oxidase and Xanthine Oxidase Enzymes.
Plants have been used for treatment of various diseases for thousand of years. Although synthetic drugs take place of common drugs in medicinal area nowadays, in the most parts of the world, the use of natural and plant sources drugs is still quite widespread. Nevertheless, the scientific investigation of the positive and negative effects of the plant drugs will be useful for public health.
In our work, the effect of drug active substances and various plant extracts known to be used in the treatments of the diseases, as gout, heart disease, cerebral diseases: on aldose reductase, α-amylase, monoamine oxidase, xanthine oxidase activities was investigated. With this aim the inhibitor effect of active substances obtained from drug factories and water and ethanol extracts made from various plants on enzyme activities were analysed.
According to the results, it was determined that the plant extracts showed different inhibitory effects on aldose reductase, α-amylase, monoamine oxidase and xanthine oxidase.
