Investigation on The Rose Shrimp (Parapenaeus Longirostris Lucas, 1846) Fishering With Boat Seine in The Sea of Marmara

The causes of ecologic corruption in our seas are inappropriate catching of fish and invertebrates, using of fishing gears, which harm the population and excessive fishing. Affection of the stocks negatively, it brings an extinction to species. Precautions must be taken to protect the fish stocks and for rising the yield.
The main objectives of this research are;

Investigating the Boat Seine equipment and fishing operations.

Investigation of body composition of P. longirostris on fishing area.

Determining the minimum and maximum lenght and boat seine data for commercial fishing.

Determining the bycatch and discarded species.
The study was carried out between February 2008 and June 2009. Fishing operations were carried out between 64 and 90 m depth.

The distribution of body length is between 7 and 16 cm. It is discovered that, the length can be changed by seasons.

In our study, the monthly CPUE value of P. longirostris was determined as 48,357 kg/h. The maximum values of CPUE were found on November 2008 (81 kg/h) and March 2009 (80 kg/h).

When we investigated the total length (TL) – weight relations, we found W=0,00105*TL^2,686 (r²=0,425) for female shrimps and W=0,0551*TL^1,945 (r²=0,769) for male shrimps. In our investigation for all shrimps we found W=0,0121*TL^2,61 (r²=0,731).

In the Marmara Sea, there are 219 licensed boats for shrimp fishery. The average length of these ships are 12 m and the average engine power are 126,6 HP. Generally the length of these boats are between 7 and 12 m.

In Tuzla Fishing Cooperative we found that there are approximately 20 seine boats. But in the period of our research, we determined that there are only 10 seine boats working everyday because of the economic problems.
