Working methodology
To establish continuous communication between sensors, conveyor dc 
motors, pusher, and indicators a PLC is programmed. As is presented in 
Fig.1, the input devices consist of buttons, diffuse sensor, front limit, whereas 
output devices are two conveyor dc motors, pusher, and indicators. Start 
button is used to start the process. Motors work and help the boxes move 
along the conveyors passing through the diffuse sensor where boxes are felt 
in case height is satisfactory. While detecting a box, the position of the 
pusher is decided.

The 
basic 
step-by-step 
operation of the sorting process is 
depicted in Fig.2. The process will 
begin, and then the boxes that will 
be sorted will be placed on the 
conveyor. When light emitted by 
the diffuse sensor is broken, the 
corresponding object is pushed. 
On the other hand, if the height of 
the object is not sufficient it carries 
on moving.

Main Logic 
1. The process starts with the start command operated manually, via which 
the conveyor motors start working.

To be 
able
to control the system, estimation of the system condition is 
required. In this case, to lock something on or turn it off, SR flip flop is 
utilized for Latch on or unlatch. In the Fig.4, normally diffuse sensor in 
the state of 0, when box is passing the state turns to 1 for a time then 
goes back to 0. This last step is attributed to working of pusher. To return 
pusher back to previous state, front limit sensor is needed. As soon as 
the pusher is opened fully, this sensor becomes active resulting in 
resetting the pusher.

One of the important parts of the system is giving accurate information 
about the system behaviour to the operator. As the conveyor is working, 
green light is on.
