IV. Entry 4. Reflective Writing
Reflective writing
Over last decades, all students should do the practice and study at the same time. Their practice may be weekly or monthly. It does not matter where they are studying. Future teachers, doctors, interpreters, engineers or architectures do the practice every year. I am fourth year student at the SSIFL. I wanted to explain my practical process in this writing task. Actually our practice consisted of sixty days from September to November. At the first day we had a conference in our institute and we participated with our group in it. All the things about the practice are explained there. While my practice procedure I learned many useful methods, strategies and various techniques. However it was no longer so easy for me. This process divided into three parts: the first part was preparation part which carried out in a week, the second and the third were main part, they carried out two weeks and the fourth was final one and took only one week to prepare documents.
First of all, I prefer to use mostly communicative method, audio- lingual method and interactive activities during my lessons. Because of them I could learn pupils' life, their character and opinion deeply. I was sure that by communicating with them I would be friendly and could teach them easily. Besides that, communicative approach is the best way to improve all levels of pupils such as listening, reading, writing and speaking. Owing to this, pupils can easily develop their speaking skills and express their options and ideas. Therefore, I explained the theme in English orally during my lessons and asked them to answer their homework as me. They all tried to answer the questions and worked together. After my lessons I taught the pupils who were not able to speak fluently. I had some exercises which helped them to improve their pronunciation. Pupils respect me and always obey the rules in my daily lessons.
Secondly, I taught them some grammar rules and gave many exercises which were related to the topic. They were so active in my lessons especially in grammar time. Because they were interested in learning foreign languages above all English. That's why in my daily lessons I tried to organize the lesson more interestingly and lively.
Moreover, I learnt the ways of how to use other methods together in the lessons. In my point of view, it would be better if we use modern method and grammar time together. For instance: interactive activities, like brainstorming and crossword will be also the best examples for intermediate and pre-intermediate level of pupils.
This practical procedure was a really good choice for me to get necessary information and material for my teaching. On the grounds that I will be teacher in near future and I should be professional and know how to teach pupils. In addition in these days I realized that every teacher should be always ready to any kind of situation and condition. With coming across such kind of situations, a competence of a real teacher would be tested. Feature of teacher should consist of patience and strength. While teaching pupils all things should organize accurately from greeting to end of the lesson. Because pupils always pay attention to their teachers when they are teach them. At the fourth part of my practice I organized an open lesson with fifth grade pupils. In my open lesson I organized different games and warming up activities. Teachers came to my lesson to check it. I used many new methods during my open lesson. I had also some faults at the end of my lesson teachers explained my faults taught me how to correct them. It is often said that activities should be used to increase pupils' knowledge and outlooks. For this reason while collecting any kind of materials all teachers should be very careful.
To sum up, I can say that practice effect to my life and also to my future job. Each lesson has played an important role in my pupils' life and their future job too. I have learnt teachers' life and how to teach the pupils. At the beginning I waited for many things from my practice and now I achieve my goal. I can be one of the best English teachers in the future. This practice procedure gave me the things to feel the life of my profession.
